Hervé Fischer
Multimedia artist-philosopher Hervé Fischer co-founded the Cité des arts et des nouvelles technologies in Montréal (1985). He was a former director of the Daniel Langlois Chair of Digital Arts at Concordia University and designer of the Quebec Media Lab Hexagram, as well as a founder of the International Digital Observatory at UQAM (Université de Québec à Montreal). He was one of the initiators of Sociological Art in the 1970s, and Tweet Art and Tweet Philosophy in the 2000s. He participated in the Venice Biennale (1976), the Biennale in São Paulo (1981), and the Documenta in Kassel (1982). His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including: at the MAM in Mexico, the MAC in Montreal, the MAM in Céret, and the Center Georges Pompidou (“Hervé Fischer et l'art sociologique” (2017). He is also the author of 25 books on art, myth analysis, the digital, and the divergence of the future, among them Hyperhumanism. For a Planetary Ethics and The Colors of the West.
